The Secretariat’s main responsibility is to provide support in preparing Bundesrat plenary sessions and committee meetings, while also ensuring that these run smoothly. The Bundesrat does not have a separate academic advisory or assistance service for legislative matters.

Executive Management of the Secretariat
The Secretary General, assisted by the Deputy Secretary General, heads the Secretariat under the authority of the Bundesrat President.
